Postponed, but not Canceled
Each spring Bluegrass from the Forest has been honored to present the much anticipated event at the Performing Arts Center in Shelton. This year’s COVID-19 limitations have forced us to to make the difficult decision to cancel or postpone the event.
We hope that you will join us in welcoming a new scheduled date for the annual event – September 11-13.
This date has been selected to schedule a time when it is safer for us all to play music together and accommodate the bands’ schedules. Instead of starting the season, we will be capping it with welcome opportunity to get out and listen to some great music!
We anticipate challenges, but look forward to expanded opportunities. The event is relocating to a outdoor venue, the South Mason Youth Soccer Park – less than three miles from Shelton High School. September is the ideal time in the Northwest to take this festival into the forest! The larger area will allow for expanded camping, additional food and music vendors and a beer and wine garden near the stage.
We want to extend a huge thank you to you, our bluegrass community and attendees who have been such loyal supporters of this event. So many changes this year in every aspect of our lives, but we are gratified by the way in which the whole community has come together. As well, thank you to many great businesses, organizations, and the wonderful musicians who are working with us to make this redesigned festival a success.
The annual festival offers a host of activities, including Master Workshops, Band Scramble Showcase (anyone can participate) Banjo Contest, Chick Rose’s Youth School of Bluegrass, Mandolin Tasting, Marv’s Slow Jam, vendors, food, nightly dances, and new this year, a beer and wine garden. As always, there will be contests, all night jamming in the campground (midnight hot dogs included).
For attendees who have already purchased tickets or camping for May, this can be applied to the September dates. There will be expanded camping options for those that wish to stay longer in the area. Refunds are available for those with date conflicts.
Organizers are closely monitoring the advice of the CDC as well as our state and local governments’ recommendations regarding COVID-19. We care deeply about our bluegrass family and hope you are staying safe. We look forward to seeing you in September at the 16th Annual Bluegrass from the Forest.
